So what's all this?
This is my answer to the lack of detailed information on the
official server status page
. Knowing how loaded a specific server is currently doesn't really tell the whole truth since most servers are likely to have a "full" or "very heavy" population during primetime anyway. Having the information visible about how full on a day average a specific server is would tell much more since it's pretty much obvious that the exact server population is never going to be shown to mere mortals.
Instead of showing the current situation, my solution sorts the server list by the average load of the last 24 hours and also displays the hourly load for that timeframe. That way, it's easy to see how loaded a specific server is and starting from which afternoon hour logins are likely to end up in the queue.
Could you add statistics for server X too?
New servers get automatically added once they show up on the
official server status page
.
How often are the statistics updated?
Once every hour.
Why aren't there any servers below 20%
The
official server status page
lists the server populations with values ranging between 1-5 (light - full). It's unclear if "light" equals as empty or more likely anything up to 20% full. Servers marked as offline appear to use 99 as the value for population. Because the "empty" population is missing, the shown load range ends up being 20-100%. Servers with an average load of exactly 20% can be considered near empty.
