Notes

  • For some reason pretty much everything went wrong during the build:
    • Originally planned to be an analog fpv build but ended up not getting build due to issues getting all parts fitting nicely inside the fuselage
    • Old FC didn't have enough UARTs for digital fpv build and was EOL for inav 8
    • Second FC didn't fit inside the fuselage due to intended wiring direction
    • Replacement for ZOHD's non-DSHOT ESC had some sort of short within it which resulted in it working for short periods but not being able to restart
      • This took long to identify to be a short and overheating issue with the other issues at the same
    • Walksnail OSD worked with 2S but not with 3S
      • Somehow caused by the wire extension, using a 5V BEC solved the issue
    • RadioMaster Pocket ran out of switches for controlling all the necessary modes
      • Trims convested to switches
    • Travel range of elevator servo was wrong, adjustment wasn't documented in manual and thread was stuck
    • GPS didn't find any satellites after everything had been assembled
      • Adding some tin foil under the antenna solved the issue
    • FC didn't have screw holes at the bottom unlike Matek's product picture show so it had to be mounted with double sided tape instead of screws
  • The CG marks aren't forward enough
  • FC was built with forward facing servo connector on the top board while ESC and BEC are below
  • VTX is sideways behind the camera, this is enough for cooling it while the plane is in flight
  • A 3D printable bracket was designed to keep the camera in place without blocking air flow
  • A small physical power switch was added near the VTX so that it can be powered on only after GPS lock has been gained
    • A servo channel controlled electronic switch would be the other alternative if the FC had supported that directly or with a separate control board, that that would have required yet another free switch from the TX
